Project update
Following the completion of two rounds of community consultation on the proposed design for upgrades to the bike track, we are now ready to start construction. Thanks to everyone who participated in the consultation process.
The design is based on feedback received during the community consultation process which involved pop up workshops at the bike track as well as an on-line survey and reflects the concept design. In addition to the community review, the concept plan was provided to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) who are the land owners. DELWP provided specific feedback to particular features that were going have a higher than acceptable impact on the environment, predominantly the existing vegetation. The feedback received from DELWP has seen a minor adjustment to the final design. Please see the final design and consultation summary for round two in the document library on the right hand side of the page.
Construction will start approximately mid-November 2022, aiming for completion before the start of the Christmas school holidays (weather dependant).
Consultation has now closed.
Thank you to everyone who participated in round 1 and 2 community consultation. Feedback has now closed and based on your feedback a final design has been completed and will be available to view shortly. Construction has been delayed and a start time will be confirmed as soon as possible.
Help shape the upgrade of the Upper Beaconsfield bike track to support increased use and overall enjoyment of the track by locals and those in surrounding townships.
The Upper Beaconsfield BMX track is well used by locals. This has become even more apparent in recent times, where we've seen an increase in use of these types of facilities by our young people. We understand how important these facilities are and will improve the track in its existing location, to support this increase in use and overall enjoyment of bike riding by the locals and surrounding townships.
We have engaged Common Ground to design and construct the Upper Beaconsfield bike Track upgrade. We have worked closely with Common Ground on the recently constructed and very popular Cockatoo Pump Track.
Your participation in this project will help inform the design with construction to follow.
With the support of Common Ground, we will be engaging with the local community and school as well as the Upper Beaconsfield Recreation Reserve Committee of Management for input into the design.
Join us at the bike track on 16 December at 3:30pm - 5:30pm for a pop up consultation session.
