Future look and feel of Pakenham endorsed by Council | Pakenham Public Realm Strategy 2023

4 March 2024

We completed several community consultation sessions and surveys on the Pakenham Revitalisation projects throughout 2023.

We asked for your feedback on the current problems in and around Pakenham Main Street, what you wanted to see improved, what our opportunities for growth should be and how you would like the future of Pakenham to look and feel.

You told us that it’s important that we build an active and vibrant community town centre that feels safe and accessible.

The main feedback included called for:

  • Improved lighting and safety
  • Improved accessibility with wider footpaths
  • Better connectivity with crossings and footpaths
  • Improved landscaping and street furniture such as bench seating, shade etc.
  • Improved outdoor dining opportunities.
  • Potential for future events and activities around Main Street

We’ve listened to your feedback and your ideas are currently helping shape the future look and feel of Pakenham’s town centre.

The Pakenham Public Realm Strategy was endorsed by Council at the November 2023 Council Meeting and outlines how Pakenham will look, feel and run in years to come. To view the full strategy, please see the document below.

Detailed design plans for lighting, landscaping and civil delivery are currently being drafted, and construction is expected to start on stage 1 works in mid-2024.

Council will continue to engage with the community to plan and deliver further works as part of the Pakenham Revitalisation over the next decade. We are committed to collaborating with the community to develop a Pakenham that we can all be proud to visit and call home.
