Project Summary

The John Street Upgrade is an integral part of the Pakenham Revitalisation Project.

John Street will be extended from Drake Place through to Henty Street to improve access through to McGregor Road, something the community has been advocating for, for many years. These works complement the level crossing removal project and will provide residents will multi access points into Pakenham as both pedestrians and motorists.

Key Improvements

The John Street Upgrade will feature the following key improvements:

  • Improved Pedestrian Connection: The project will enhance pedestrian connectivity, making it easier and safer for people to navigate the area.
  • Road Pavement Upgrade: The upgrade will include improvements to the road pavement, providing a consistent and high-quality surface for vehicles.
  • Integration with Main Street Upgrades: The project will integrate with the Main Street upgrades and align with the overall themes of the public realm strategy.
  • Integration with Drake Place: The project will also integrate with the Drake Place upgrade, creating a cohesive and user-friendly environment.
  • Parking: The project aims to retain as much existing parking as possible, minimising disruption for local businesses and residents.
  • Street Trees: The project will include the addition of street trees, enhancing the visual appeal of the area.

Project stages

The John Street Upgrade will be carried out in three stages:

  • Stage 1: Upgrading John Street from Main Street to Drake Place.
  • Stage 2: Extending John Street from Drake Place through to Henty Street.
  • Stage 3: Upgrade footpaths, landscaping and street furniture.
