Turn your cans into club funding

15 May 2026

Local clubs and community groups across Cardinia Shire are finding simple ways to raise funds through Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme.

Many groups are setting up dedicated collection bins with clear signage at their facilities, making it easy for members and visitors to drop off eligible drink containers. These containers can then be taken to a nearby reverse vending machine or depot, where refunds are processed and can be transferred directly into the club’s account.

Under the scheme, eligible drink containers can earn a refund when returned, providing a practical way for clubs to generate income while supporting recycling and reducing waste.

Community and sporting groups can also register as a donation partner. This allows supporters to donate their refunds directly to the club when using a refund point, creating another simple fundraising stream.

In Cardinia Shire, Return‑It is the zone operator, with a network of local depots and reverse vending machines available for container drop‑off.

Most clubs choose to transport collected containers themselves, however collection services such as ReCollect may also be available in some areas. Groups should check availability depending on their location.

To find your nearest drop‑off location, visit the CDS Vic website or your local Return‑It page.
