Stan Henwood Award - Final call for Nominations

Nominations for Cardinia Shire’s 2023 Stan Henwood Award are closing soon with applications due Friday 3 March.

The Stan Henwood Awards honour the memory of Tynong legend Stan Henwood. Heavily involved with the Tynong Hall Committee, the Tynong Recreation Reserve Committee and the Make A Wish Foundation, Stan was also a key part of with the local sporting community. He was a life member of the Tynong Tennis Club, the West Gippsland Tennis Association, Tynong Fire Brigade and Tynong Progress Association. Beyond Cardinia Shire’s borders, he received a Medal from the Prime Minister for service to sport and an Order of Australia for Service to the Community.

If you know a local legend that deserves to be recognised for their outstanding, long term contributions to the local community, now is the chance!

2022 Stan Henwood Award Recipient: Tim Ahern

Tim has been actively volunteering in the community since 1965. He has contributed to the community through dedicating his time on many different community groups including: Cardinia Tennis Club, Pakenham Young Liberals, Pakenham Squash Club, Pakenham Hall and Recreation Reserve, Rotary Club of Pakenham, Pakenham Junior Football Club, Beacon Hills College, P.B Ronald Trust, Pakenham Lions Social Club, Pakenham Angling Club, Pakenham Cardinia Bushfire Relief Rebuilding, Consolidated School Council, Pakenham Bush Nursing Hospital, Rotary Vehicle Fellowship Rotarians, Officer Scouts Group and Pakenham East Probus Club.

Tim has also contributed to many local fundraising activities and events including the Go Country Outdoors, Farming Lifestyle Expo, Rotary Club of Pakenham Annual Golf Day, Trailer Raffles, White Elephant sales, and debutant balls.

Tim is highly regarded by his peers and has been awarded the Rotary Club of Pakenham “Paul Harris Medal” in 2011 and the “Paul Harris Fellow Sapphire Pin” in 2018 for ongoing service to Rotary & the community.
