Grant Applications Now Open!

A number of grant programs are now available through Council. Please see the below for further details. Please note that all grant applications must receive in principle support (in writing) from your relevant Council Officer before submitting.

Applications are now open for the following Cardinia Shire Council grant programs:


Wellbeing Support Grant Program

The Community Wellbeing and Support Grants Program helps to establish new organisations, projects and services. It also funds initiatives that improve residents' health and wellbeing, support opportunities for volunteering, as well as those which help to build the capacity of community groups, projects and programs to be sustainable.

Community Wellbeing and Support Grants Program funding categories are:

  • Seeding grants of up to $5,000 to support the cost of starting a new organisation, group, club, program, project or service.
  • Volunteering grants of up to $3,000 to help create volunteering programs, train volunteers or promote volunteering opportunities.
  • Small change grants of up to $1,000 to assist with a range of ad hoc costs that cannot be met through other funding sources, such as buying small items of equipment, website redevelopment, Christmas decorations and more.

Community Capital Works Grant Program

The Community Capital Works Grants Program assists community groups to improve community and recreational facilities, in order to support community networks and enhance community wellbeing.

To have Council’s support on the Community Capital Works Grant Program, your relevant Council Officer require a brief overview of the below to undertake an adequate assessment for the panel (please note this only needs to be dot points response).

Given the above, please ensure you provide information on:

  1. Project overview/scope
  2. Project location
  3. Estimated costs
  4. Why the project is needed
  5. How will the Club/Community will benefit from the project
  6. Evidence if a building permit/planning permit is or isn’t required

Please note all stakeholders within the reserve/facility will need to support the project for it to be considered, particularly in writing support from Committee of Managements/Community Asset Committees. Please see further information below regarding the grant Categories.

The Community Capital Works Grant categories and criteria are:

Category 1

  • Grants of up to $20,000 are available for community and recreational facility upgrade works that fall into one of 4 priority areas.
  • Council manage works on behalf of community groups.
  • Community groups are not required to provide matched funding.

Category 2 (Detailed Application Stage)

  • Grants of up to $35,000 are available for community and recreational facility upgrade works that fall into one of 3 priority areas.
  • Community groups manage the works with guidance from Council.
  • Community groups must provide a matched funding amount based on their annual income.

Category 3

  • Grants of up to $20,000 are available to go towards major equipment purchases that fall into one of 3 priority areas.
  • Equipment purchases are used to help maintain sporting grounds, outer grounds or large internal areas.
  • Community groups must provide dollar-for-dollar matched funding.

Festival and Events Grant Program

The Festival & Event Grant Program provides funding of up to $10,000 to community groups to deliver community events:
  • Community festivals and events
  • Art festivals and events
  • Cultural festivals and events
  • Agricultural shows and major events
