These upgrades are pending future funding, and no works will start until funding is received. Once funded, it is expected that the works will take approximately 8-9 months to be completed.

No - as part of these works, all right-hand turn lanes will be removed, and a solid centre median traffic island will be installed along the full length of Rix Road. This change will limit drivers’ ability to turn right in or out of the connecting streets including Park Central Avenue, Tara Boulevard and Golden Banksia Drive. Drivers will be able to turn left in and out of these streets, however they will need to utilise the new roundabouts to turn-around.

All the works outlined as part of the Brunt Road and Rix Road project are outlined in the endorsed Officer Precinct Structure Plan (PSP).

The PSP was originally prepared by Council in 2011 and guides the development of the Officer precinct and reserves land for key infrastructure, such as roads, local parks and community uses.

Following the completion of the Brunt Rd and Pioneer Way works, an independent traffic impact assessment was completed to assess the safety and access of future Officer Precinct Structure works. The report found that providing centre median openings along the Brunt-Rix Road corridor: is not in line with the intended or required standard for a Connector Street Boulevard road corridor within the Officer PSP, and will adversely impact the safety and operation of the Brunt-Rix Road corridor.

For the road safety and operational reasons described the traffic impact assessment, it is recommended that a centre median opening not be provided within the wider Brunt-Rix Road corridor, in line with the requirements of the Officer PSP.

To replace the on-street parking included within the service roads, the design has incorporated indented parking in small sections near Park Central Avenue.
