November update:

We are pleased to confirm our grant application was successful. Construction will commence on 21 November 2022.

Temporary fencing will be installed during construction. In the site diagram below the blue line is the temporary construction fencing, the orange is for pedestrians.

We ask pedestrians to take particular care during the construction phase given the sloped terrain.

We anticipate construction being completed by July 2023.

Project Background

Thanks to everyone who participated in this consultation and provided us with their feedback.

We applied for funding to redevelop the southern Cockatoo tennis courts. The proposed works were the demolition of the existing courts and infrastructure. Two new synthetic tennis courts were proposed with new competition standard LED LUX level lighting allowing for night and low light level participation, as well as fencing, drainage and concrete pathways to be installed if the funding application is successful.

We sought your feedback on how you and your community would benefit from and like to use these facilities if they are upgraded. Through this consultation, you told us you would like:

  • facility usage on weekends and at night and this would require lighting to be installed on courts 3 and 4.

You also told us that you would like many different activities at the facility. Popular activities suggested by you included:

  • casual use
  • open courts sessions
  • cardio tennis
  • social competitions
  • tea and tennis session
  • family fun
  • practice sessions
  • kids lessons
  • women's’ lessons and
  • local group use.

This feedback was used for the grant submission in February 2022. It also helped us understand how you would like to use these facilities and help us encourage greater use by the community.
