Sealing the Hills program update
Cardinia Shire Council has made the difficult decision to formally dissolve the outstanding commenced and declared Sealing the Hills special charge schemes at the September 2023 Council Meeting, including Red-Boyd package in Gembrook.
The withdrawal of federal funding from the Sealing the Hills program left Council unable to seal and deliver all road upgrades originally included in the Sealing the Hills program.
The federal government did not act on Council's requests to reconsider its decision and restore funding in full. These requests were made in letters appealing to the Minister and all Victorian Federal Senators, our recent joint federal budget submission with Yarra Ranges Council and the community-led petition to Parliament.
We will continue to prioritise improving our road network, building better local roads, and advocating for future funding to seal these roads within the Hills.
