Council is proposing to install traffic management devices along Ahern Road as part of Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) Program.
The road is currently ranked as one of the top locations on the priority list due to:
- Significant crash history and increased crash risk
- High proportion of speeding traffic
- Feedback from stakeholders.
Council is proposing to install the following traffic management devices:
- 4 raised platforms (flat-top speed humps)
- 2 sets of asphalt speed cushions (single lane humps)
- Construction of a roundabout at Ahern Rd, Meaby Drive, Ash Crescent
- Installation of additional street lighting near all new devices.
The installation of LATM devices support efficient travel on roads, manage the environmental impact of road traffic and improve the livability, amenity for the community. See the site plan in the Document Library.
Funding
This project will be funded by the Victorian Government’s Safer Local Roads Program and expected to be completed during the 2026-27 financial year. Minor disruptions are expected, but we appreciate your patience during this time.
What to expect
- Reduced speed limit: from 50 km/h to 40 km/h
- Minor traffic control in place, with minimal delays (up to 3 minutes max)
- Works will occur during business hours (8am–5pm)
- Increased dust light, temporary noise.
