Council is proposing to install local traffic management devices along Duncan Drive Pakenam as part of Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) Program.
The road is currently ranked as one of the top locations on the priority list due to:
- Significant crash history and increased crash risk
- High proportion of speeding traffic in a residential area
- Feedback from stakeholders
- 2 reported crashes in a 5 year period.
Council is proposing to install the following traffic management devices:
- 4 raised platforms (flat-top speed humps)
- A raised pedestrian priority crossing (wombat crossing) and connecting path the BJ Wallis Reserve
- Installation of additional street lighting near all new devices.
The installation of LATM devices support efficient travel on roads, manage the environmental impact of road traffic and improve the livability, amenity for the community. See the site plan in the Document Library.
Funding
This project will be funded by the Victorian Government’s Safer Local Roads Program and expected to be completed during the 2026-27 financial year. Minor disruptions are expected, but we appreciate your patience during this time.
What to expect
- Reduced speed limit: from 50 km/h to 40 km/h
- Minor traffic control in place, with minimal delays (up to 3 minutes max)
- Works will occur during business hours (8am–5pm)
- Increased dust light, temporary noise.
