Please see below an artistic impression of the proposed park design:
What will the park include?
The play space will have active, adventurous play opportunities for all ages. Whilst incorporating junior elements, thespace will focus on features to challenge tweens, teens and adults. It is set to include features such as parkour, an obstacle course, long slides, climbing, ropes, balance beams and climbing walls set into the hill to create an exciting, challenging, iconic and adventurous district play space.
The café will provide social opportunities to meet and enjoy a coffee or snacks.
A dry creek bed water play space will provide natural sensory play next to the café. This junior space will complement the more active play areas focusing on older age groups.
The fitness zone will complement the play space. Creating a steep stepped access path, the intent is to create an attractive yet challenging space to exercise and train in.
A wheeled adventure trail will be included along the northern slope of the reserve to provide opportunities for people of all ages for mountain boarding and mountain bike riding.
A regional level skate park will provide skate, BMX and scooter opportunities to all ages. The facility will be able to cater large events.
A partially-fenced, off-leash area at the southern edge of the reserve will have connections to the lower boundary path and car park.
The wetlands will catch and treat park water runoff using Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) principles. WSUD will be included throughout the reserve and showcased in the wetland and board walk areas. A boardwalk will provide a walking trail through the wetlands to view wildlife and natural environmental systems.
The lookout will be positioned centrally at the reserve’s highest point to take advantage of the surrounding views.
An accessible path network will provide access to the main lookout and key parts of the reserve.
These will provide access through the reserve and connections to the broader bicycle trail and nearby reserves.
