Tobacco Licence Deadline Approaching for Victorian Businesses

12 December 2025

Victoria’s tobacco licensing scheme is now in effect, requiring all businesses that sell tobacco products to apply for a licence by 1 February 2026.

Businesses that fail to apply by this date will be prohibited from selling tobacco and may face penalties. Applications submitted before the deadline allow businesses to continue trading while under review, with a temporary receipt valid until 15 March 2026 or until a decision is made.

To avoid delays or refusals, applicants must ensure their submissions are accurate, match the correct business structure, and include required documents such as ASIC company extracts and National Police Checks.
