Regional Activation Grants Program now open

8 January 2024

The Victorian Government has launched the Regional Activation Grants Program, allocating $1 million to support regional towns in showcasing locally produced food and drinks.

Minister for Agriculture Ros Spence has opened the first round of grants, inviting Regional Tourism Boards, food and fibre groups, and regional bodies to apply for funding. Grants of up to $70,000 are available to host events such as farmers' markets, food and beverage festivals, and tasting sessions that highlight locally produced goods.

The initiative aims to promote high-quality food and beverages from Victoria's regions, fostering a connection between local producers and consumers. The Vic Grown website will showcase businesses involved, providing a platform for diverse producer profiles and stories behind local products.

With Victoria's food and drinks sector being world-class, the grants aim to enhance appreciation for locally sourced products and strengthen the community's ties with producers. The agricultural sector, contributing over $20 billion annually to the economy, is further supported by the $2 million Victorian Grown initiative to promote premium produce locally and globally.
