Protecting The Mental Health Of Workers In Victoria

1 October 2025

The Victoria Government has introduced new Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (Psychological Health) 2025, effective from 1 December. These regulations require Victorian employers to identify and manage psychosocial hazards—such as bullying, harassment, and exposure to trauma—on par with physical risks.

With mental injury claims making up 17% of WorkSafe reports in 2024–25, the changes aim to foster mentally healthy workplaces and align with national standards. Employers will have access to a Compliance Code and prevention plan templates to support implementation.

The regulations will be a key focus during WorkSafe’s Health and Safety Month this October.
