Helping Small Businesses Close The Gender Pay Gap

8 March 2024

The Victorian Government has released a new toolkit on International Women’s Day aimed at helping small businesses address the gender pay gap.

Developed by the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission with government funding, the Pay Equality Toolkit is designed to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in achieving pay equality in their workplaces.

Key features of the toolkit include a Pay Equality Compass for assessing business strengths and opportunities, guides and templates for creating equal pay policies, a model for handling pay complaints and conducting gender pay audits, and other practical tools to meet legal obligations and enhance staff satisfaction.

The aim is to support SMEs in becoming employers of choice while promoting fairness and equality in the workforce.
