Helping Big Businesses Cut Energy Costs and Emissions

21 August 2025

The Allan Labor Government is supporting large Victorian businesses to reduce energy costs and emissions through the Large Energy User Electrification Support Program and the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) initiative.

Ball Australia, a horticultural nursery in Skye, received a $24,000 grant to explore replacing its gas boiler with an electric heat pump and thermal storage tank. The study revealed potential savings of $748,000 annually and a 96% reduction in gas use, with installation discounts of up to $706,000 available through the VEU.

In total, 36 businesses have received grants of up to $60,000 to assess electrification opportunities, including upgrades to heating, cooling, ovens, and more. The VEU program has already helped 180,000 businesses and 2.4 million households improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.
