Fair Work Ombudsman and Boarder Force target south-east region

10 October 2025

The Fair Work Ombudsman and Australian Border Force recently inspected 40 businesses across the Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island, and southern Melbourne suburbs to ensure compliance with workplace laws, particularly for migrant workers.

Targeting sectors like hospitality, beauty, and manufacturing, the inspections focused on wage records, visa compliance, and educating workers on new rights such as the right to disconnect. Employers were reminded of their legal obligations, with new laws making exploitation of migrant workers a criminal offence. Businesses are encouraged to use Fair Work’s free resources to stay compliant.
