Small and medium-sized businesses can now apply for the first round of grants aimed at reducing their energy bills and improving their energy efficiency. Applications will be accepted until Wednesday 19 April 2023 at 5:00pm AEST, or until the funds are depleted.

The grant program has $16 million available in grants valued between $10,000 to $25,000. Businesses can use the grants to upgrade or replace equipment, monitor energy use, and reduce energy costs. Eligible activities include upgrading lights to LEDs, replacing gas heating boilers with heat pumps, improving space and water heating, and implementing energy monitoring systems. These grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be distributed until the funds are exhausted in each jurisdiction. This is a demand-driven opportunity, so eligible applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
