Boosting Multicultural Businesses

1 September 2025

The Victorian Government has launched the Multicultural Business Precinct Revitalisation Program alongside Australia’s first Good Practice Guide to support multicultural business precincts across Victoria. The initiative includes $4 million in grants, with up to $250,000 available per precinct for projects like public infrastructure upgrades, signage, art installations, and shopfront improvements.

The Good Practice Guide offers councils practical ideas such as cultural festivals, pop-up activations, and promotional campaigns to attract visitors and enhance community engagement. This is part of a broader $17 million investment aimed at strengthening multicultural traders and precincts.

With 56% of Victoria’s small businesses owned by people with at least one parent born overseas, the program highlights the vital role multicultural businesses play in job creation, cultural enrichment, and economic growth.
