Backing Our Farmers Through The Drought

4 July 2025

The Victorian Government is expanding its drought support for Victorian farmers with an additional $75 million, bringing the total to $144 million. This funding addresses immediate needs and long-term resilience through:

  • $35.8 million in household support for farmers in 12 drought-affected LGAs in south-west Victoria.
  • $2 million to the Country Women’s Association for household payments up to $1,000.
  • $5.9 million for mental health, farm debt mediation, and technical support.
  • $6.3 million in fee and duty relief for primary producers.
  • $15 million to extend the East Grampians Rural Pipeline, improving water access.
  • Additional investments in emergency water supply points, groundwater access, and sustainable water strategies.
  • $1 million for drought employment programs via Catchment Management Authorities.

The initiative aims to protect farming families, food supply, and rural jobs while preparing communities for future droughts.
