This project is now complete

Carla Gottens, commissioned artist for the PB Ronald Reserve public artwork, has gathered your memories about your public outdoor swimming pool experiences and used them to help inform the design of the artwork.

The design includes everything from your favourite summer snacks to the old school swimwear you might have seen more commonly in the 1970’s, 1980’s, 1990’s, and 2000’s.

This design is printed on mesh material and adhered directly to the fence that runs parallel to John Street, Pakenham. This is intended to bring a splash of colour to the area and create a screen around the pool plant equipment.

Share your memories to inform artwork design

Through an EOI process and in line with Cardinia Shire Council's Public Art Policy, we have recently commissioned an artist, Carla Gottgens, to create a public artwork at PB Ronald Reserve.

This artwork will attach to the existing outdoor pool fence that runs parallel to John Street, Pakenham to beautify the vicinity.

Carla wants to hear what locals of all ages recall of their memories through the decades associated with public swimming pools. These memories will help inform the themes of the final artwork.

Carla will be at Pakenham Outdoor Pool on 27 January, 2023 from 12-2 pm asking pool-goers for their memories.

There will be a suggestion box available at the Pakenham Outdoor Pool for input until Friday 17 February.
